cold ice slides and collapses with crunch
glacier river runs and feels like I've been punched
face first, frosted up against pained glass
turncoat rebel with plan left awash
rolling slowly away from the center
right rabble rousers leave what's left
with the soft sky still turned and unswept
broad, broad strokes from the artist's brush
rise and ride leaving breakfast for brunch
tables turned and set alone while the fading sun sets slowly
low light sings lyrically and the tired tempo is pulsed
rhythm and groove like a giorgio moroder tune paced in time
until the night finally falls and the steps stop
to disappear in darkness without despair

hearts beat in time until the beat turns time back to rhyme with what has to be said
digging deep in back of his head

she is waiting on the edge of the evening she wants to move to manhattan so
she can be released to seek refuge in warm currents of a city under siege
she wants to dance, take my hand, and feel the warmth knowing that i'll be there

she's willing to cross broken chords and colors to hold onto a promise of forever, but eventually she'll have to let go and move away from the slow burning hell of 48th street

how can she lay so many fears at my feet and expect me to sing new songs as the tenured rock of ages
raw religion takes two turns and twenty-eight times to step up tall towards the eighty-third floor
oh from such heights we would surely stand as giants among tiny diminutive mortal men
idols cast in snowy remoteness, just far enough outside so that we'd have to strain to look back in to see the revolution once again

take the blue sounds from the field
wrap 'em up loosely a save 'em for your soul
every bit counts as the stage begins to be set
don't waste a single day or night
letting love spin out of control
dry your tears from the puddled parlor floor
just a bebop kid in a country cool town trying to make a living when sun goes down
electric smiles soon surface from the bayou swamps
shirking seven sins on your super low dose
backbeat clever and easy on the soul
swirling and whirling tapping like a tornado on your toes
wishing us all well from your Corpus Christi home

Washed in the water; drowned like the pages of history...

Pulled from the stones
Drawn like horses on canvas
Thoroughbreds thoroughly read
Now one can distinguish
The mounts from mountains

Muscles bursting with sweat under the sun
Climbing higher to peaks topping the sky
The power now measured with slow purposeful rhythms

Their sources now sighted
The cool rivers must run
Drop by magnificent drop
Until every life comes undone

Weighted and washed from sins lost
The souls of all will be treated as equals
When the infinity of the last star ends

The forest will speak to you if you listen...
Too much time to notice is considered a luxury to those who cannot afford the patient price of knowing.

Standing alone to listen and absorb this rich commodity is the most desirable thought to those who require stillness.

Some see nothing except trees and dirt as the shallow brook babbles. Its noise unheard carrying away the thoughtless sunder.
