off the mark but
the target is still clear

aim true for the red, white, and blue
eyes open wide; shut!
I have no time to become
tangled in your conversation
the deception you silently,
softly weave
into perfectly quilted patterns
that warmly wrap around my mind
cloaked in comfort and
difficult to dismiss
twisted turned words that penetrate
the soul, solid and souled
difficult to resist
the allure of aid in time of adversity
